The KDF Millennium Ride is an annual long-distance ride for chairty in aid of low-income dialysis patients. In 2018, we covered over 1200KM over 5 days, crossing 3 countries.

KDF is honoured to have collaborated with students from the MA Art Therapy Programme at LASALLE College of the Arts to produce the KDF calendar 2018. Students from the programme teamed up with our patients and their caregivers to co-create several art pieces surrounding the theme, ‘Animal Kingdom’.

On 24th April 2016, a patient education seminar was organised for patients to better understand their blood test results. During the course of the seminar, Dr Yeoh Lee Ying, a senior consultant at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, highlight the causes of inadequate dialysis and malnutrition, then provided some tips on what to do in order to maintain a balanced and healthy lifestyle for dialysis patients.

KDF’s inaugural charity netball tournament was held on 29thAugust 2015 at St. Hilda’s Secondary School. The event attracted participation from 29 netball teams across two game categories (U17 and U14) and managed to raise close to $7,500.

The Chinese word for fish (yu) is pronounced the same way as abundance, hence is often used to represent prosperity. Singapore’s first ever Charity Xiangqi competition took place at the Bishan Community Club on the 13th and 14th of June 2015. Co-organised by KDF and the Singapore Xiangqi General Association, the event was a great success with over 200 participants.

On 7th December 2014, patients from KDF were accompanied by family members and volunteers on a one-day outing to the S.E.A. Aquarium in Sentosa. The outing began at the Maritime Experiential Museum where participants travelled back in time to uncover Asia’s maritime heritage.

The Chinese believe that the goat is an auspicious sign which embodies good luck. KDF's charity icon for the year, ‘Auspicious Beginnings’, features three of these auspicious animals standing on top of a cliff, a symbol of courage and tenacity. The coins held in its mouth signify good fortune, while the pine at the back of the icon represents longevity and everlasting life.

On the morning of 25th May 2014, Renal Friends – KDF's patient support group – held its first Patient Education Seminar of the year. Titled 'Cooking with Protein Sources', the seminar featured two main segments: a cooking demonstration by a professional chef followed by a cooking competition.

In celebration of World Kidney Day in March, KDF organised a series of health talks catering to the seniors in our community. Industry professionals shared on how to prevent and manage diabetes, kidney disease, and taught some simple exercises to keep an active lifestyle. Participants got themselves a free health screening test too!

From February 25th to 28th, the KDF Millennium Ride 2014 saw 45 cyclists whisking through various cities in Malaysia, stopping over at Malacca, Kuantan and Mersing.

On the 12th January 2014, Renal Friends organised a day tour to Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The tour began with a trip to a mushroom farm, where KDF patients were able to learn about the nutritional value of mushrooms.

In December 2013, KDF launched a month-long ‘Gift of Time’ campaign, where we invited student volunteers to “give” their time to charity. We called for smile ambassadors to man our roving photo booth, and also for volunteers to lend us their voices for our charity carolling performances across the island.

On the 20th of August 2011, KDF held its inaugural open house as part of its 15th Anniversary celebrations. The event was held at KDF’s newly renovated Bishan dialysis centre and Bishan Community Club which was just a stone’s throw away.
